The Taj Mahal, the resort that upped the game in Atlantic City. Called the 8th Wonder of the world it wasn't just your typical casino. It was a mega resort. Construction started in 1983 when it was called Resorts Taj Mahal. After the developer died. Trump was on board and bided for the property. With Atlantic city growing in decine, and neighboring casinos in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maryland opened the Taj closed its doors after 27 years on October 10, 2016. Soon after on July 6, a liquidation sale started. Hundreds flocked to the Taj to see what was left of the luxurious casino, at one point the highest grossing in AC. Over a month later I returned on 8/8/17 to see what was left. It was like a ghost town. Only a few people left. Slots removed and furniture from the rooms scattered in the lobby. But that isn't what I was here for. I was here for the Elevonic 401's. 10 of them in 1 bank with 5 others as service elevators. I met up with Mattyice0812 and together we filmed the elevators that traveled the 42 stories of the building. We discovered the glass elevator running and had a great time. The fate of the old Otis is uncertain. Hard Rock is planning to re-open the entire resort in 2018. What that means for the elevators, is unknown.
